About

Opening March, 2026

I'm Dr. Nhu Mai. I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University and have been a licensed psychologist since 2017. I practice psychotherapy using an integrative approach that includes humanistic, emotion-focused, and mindfulness- and compassion-based orientations, along with cognitive-behavioral modalities and other evidence-based interventions. I also draw wisdom from diverse worldviews, universal human stories, and the distinctive qualities, needs, and interwoven familial, cultural, and social contexts that each person brings to the therapy process. My professional interests for individual therapy include stress, anxiety, mood-related disorders, life transitions and adjustments (especially mid-life retirement challenges, separation, divorce, and career changes), existential concerns, burnout (professionals and caregivers), struggle with self-criticism, perfectionism, expectations, and people pleasing, family estrangement, moral injuries from working in an unhealthy, dysfunctional system, and unresolved effects of trauma. While therapy may not have all the answers or satisfying solutions to the challenges you're facing, it offers a space to slow down, reflect, explore the intricacies of your private world and life around you, and reconnect with what matters most to you. It also invites you to recognize long-standing patterns, unexamined beliefs, difficult experiences, or relational dynamics that contribute to your suffering. In addition to gaining nuanced understandings and clarity, therapy can refine and expand your repertoire of practical skills to help you navigate life’s demands and relationships. You can also use support from therapy to befriend yourself, create change, consider a new perspective, increase flexibility, welcome rest and balance, or take a leap of faith to rewrite your story. I am bilingual and bicultural and offer services to both English and Vietnamese speakers. I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds, identities, professions, circumstances, and experiences. Please feel free to send me a message to schedule a 15-minute consultation to see whether we may be a good fit. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please call 911, contact the national suicide hotline at 988, reach out to your local regional crisis line, text HOME to 741741, or visit your nearest emergency room.
